We had a pretty good following and wanted to go all the way with this so we bought an international bus, painted it, fixed up the inside like a camper and headed out to seek out our dream in sunny music central (California).

In June of 1987, we arrived right as the metal scene was at the peak of it's popularity!

Soon after arriving, my friend and I recruited 2 local players for the guitars, and quickly made ourselves the Gazzarri's house band playing old man Gazzarri’s T-Shirt Nights.

It was alot of work and during that time, I think we paid more dues than many of the local bands could pay in years! We did the Glam/Progressive thing for years until some members couldn’t handle the lifestyle and returned to New York.

I stuck it out and tried out for bands like Heretic, Steel Prophet and Odin. Odin was an interesting prospect, as they had just lost their lead singer Randy O to his own band (Lost-Boys) and they tried me out at the time they were reforming.

A buddy of mine (Tim Kelly - of Slaughter fame) was also trying out and he made it into the band; shortly after, I did too! Nothing ever came of it because funding fell through from Odin’s label for rehearsal funds.

Tim then joined Slaughter, and recently passed away -- rest in peace, old buddy.

During this time, I never gave up and formed many solo projects, including: Wired, Misbehavin and finally Carfax Abbey.
